Pros: Best Features ever seen!
Best settings diagrams!
Guaranteed output regardless of voltage change!
Cons: Not quite enough power for the greedy JL w7 sub...
The Bottom Line: Dominating SQ AM! No one can match the quality of engineering! Alan setscrews easily strip and are not replaceable! Huge flaw! The only amp better is the JL 1001! :)
Review: This amp was awesome! But I had to upgrade from it to a more powerful amp.
I used a single JL Audio 10w7 sum and this amp was great... but not quite enough for me! Then again I want to hit 151bd too! If your satisfied... |

Pros: Excellent output, Remote gain control, Plenty of wiring configurations
Cons: No Cons.
The Bottom Line: If the JL Audio 500/1 is available for your setup.
USE IT!!!!!
Review: The JL Audio 500/1 is a great amplifier. I have it hooked up to 3-JL12w3's and they are some of the cleanest hardest hitting subs i have ever heard. It accepts up to a 8ga. wire and is setup to accept a variety of voltage inputs. The remote gain control...

Pros: Quality, musical amp
Cons: Runs a bit hot. Nothing ridiculous though
Review: JL power. Great amp. I have this powering a 12W6V2 in a sealed custom enclosure. This amp does what an amp should. Reproduces the signal it receives & stays out of the way. Went from a 250/1 to this. I gotta say though I felt that the 250/1 was ...

Pros: looks, RMS
Cons: built in screws
Review: I bought this amp new in 2004 to push to 12" Kicker Solobaric L7s. It did that and more! It's now 2007 and I still have the amp and subs kicking tons of bass in my car. I am about to sell it all though only because I bought a new house and can use the ...

Pros: When hook up properly, the benefits are unexplainable. Never overheats
Cons: I bought mines at $450 w/o tax and this was on sale
Review: One word describes this wonderful piece of product: POWERFUL!!! I got my 500/1 running 2 12w3v2's somewhere around 150-175 apiece. The deal with JL amps, is that it puts out more pure wattage that it says. I have my subs turned down to -6 (yes ...

Pros: Beats like the devil, very loud and seems more powerful than rated
Cons: Can't turn the amp gain down until you get no sound
Review: The JL Audio 500/1 mono sub amp is a brute force. The amp output (@ 500 watts) is more than enough power for one or two strong subwoofers. You get 500 watts into 1.5 to 4 ohms. It has a parametric bass EQ, low pass crossover, subsonic filter & wired ...

Pros: POWER, reliable name, small, good looking for comp
Cons: price ($500), warranty
Review: If you want to make some 12's shake and quake, then buy this amp! It is expensive. However, for a 500 watt amp you can not beat this thing. Absolute power from a good name brand. Now I am an Orion man, Lord knows you can not beat those amps, but this one ...

Pros: RIPS, infrasonic filter, balanced inputs, low THD, crossover
Cons: Pricey, Bass EQ poorly designed, built in alan screws, warranty
The Bottom Line: Buy it if you can get it for anything in the $300 range, but at $549 it is not worth it.
Review: After all the years of talk and speculation JL Audio finally comes through on their promise to introduce an amplifier line to their customers. The 500/1 is their second best subwoofer amplifier next to the 1000/1. This amplifier was designed to put out 50 ...

Pros: Powerful, flexible configuration, small, clean and clear
Cons: Not quite enough for super-power-hungry subs- also, doesn't like 2 ohm loads
The Bottom Line: For the price, I couldn't ask for more- this thing SLAMS my boston pro 12.5LF *(4ohm) and fits in the smallest spaces. Clean, clear and slammin. Well done JL
Review: JL talked about introducing an amp line to the market for years before finally following through just a few years back. Since this introduction JL's line has expanded from the "Slash" series (to which the 500/1 or 500 SLASH 1 belongs) to the lower "E" ...

Pros: Low price for a Class D monoblock 500 watt amp.
Cons: Only 500 watts - picks up induced noise through wires (Made in Korea).
The Bottom Line: Save your $ and buy a real American amp.
Review: I had two 500/1 amps powering two 15W3-D2 subs. O.K. but had a tendancy to slap the backplate on th ...
