The original Grand Theft Auto surfaced amid baby-waving senators, tearful mothers and threats of a rating that would make the game an ID-requiring purchase. But all that really happened is DMA Design got its first viable franchise since Lemmings. This time, they're back with more carjackers in GTA2. In this iteration of the series, the city is overrun with crime. You're a lowly gang member, and you have to gain status and esteem by offing the members of other gangs while stealing cars and evading the police. Like the first game, this all takes place in a zoomed-out overhead perspective. Unlike the first, it's fully polygonal. If you liked the first one, this is a good bet. Minimize

Epinions The Future Of Crime

by  head-driller,  Sep 2, 2002
Pros: More variety than the first, weapons are easier to use.
Cons: Some frustrating missions, not much different from the original.
The Bottom Line: Better than the first, even if it's more of an expansion pack than a sequel.
Review: Back in 1998 (if I remember correctly), DMA Design released Grand Theft Auto, a video game viewed from a bird's eye perspective (or Helicopter perspective as I like to put it) which had players taking control of a mobster who worked for various mob...

Epinions GTA2, Like a Walk Through Manhattan

by  steverbever,  Jan 27, 2001
Pros: Terrific variation of cars weapons and everything else.
Cons: Radio stations get annoying after a while, graphics are alright.
The Bottom Line: Its a great game, I would say it's for teens and up or any one that loves a great laugh.
Review: Driving down a major road in the wrong lane running from he cops, in a car that’s on fire and all you have to fight back with is a pistol. Too bad that you’re in the gangs area that’s trying to kill you. That's one of the worst case scenarios, but it's...
